(H012) Dolphin -
Color Chart
Being a lover of ocean life, I long ago pondered as
countless others have, if dolphins carry the ability for
complex thoughts and relationships; numerous stories seem to
validate this perspective. This mystery is there as I
attempt to express with clay the dolphin's anatomy,
especially the front flippers. Wondering if the
flippers had been arms and hands with opposable thumb what
would dolphin society have built. So instead of
literally making the flippers, I leave them unexpressed,
just as the mystery will never be known. |

(H013) Duck -
Color Chart
When I was pregnant with my last child, I had to spend
the last two months prone. It was May and the
incubator, like a mother mallard was hatching baby
ducks. As each duckling broke forth from its egg, I
took this wet form and gently laid it upon my breast,
allowing the warmth of my body to dry its feathers,
imprinting taking place between the three of us. The
duck, my unborn daughter and myself. Very tender input
which outputs my clay ducks. |

(H014) Eagle Head Pendant -
Color Chart
When I commercial fished for salmon in Alaska, I had
lots of free time to walk the shoreline in Yakutat.
One of my favorite activities was beachcombing with a lone
eagle looking for driftwood, shells, glass balls from Japan
and other flotsam. He would let me get very close to
his driftwood perch, then slowly arise on his wings and
alight a safe distance away to repeat this dance with me
over and over again.
The form reflects the Tlingit culture I was adopted into in
1963. I've created the eagle head to either stand
alone as an art sculpture or to be worn as a pendant. |

People love to watch me hatch my clay eggs into lifeforms. My website
is also like a clay egg - one I'm hatching right now.
